Welcome to the world of Linux!
I am still at a basic stage and learning how to use the system, that is why I am still doing all my work under Win 98. I am hoping to find programs that can perform the same jobs as :
Microsoft Outlook with regard to handling Email and automatically placing it into folders using rules or similar &
There are many email clients under Linux. The names of some GUI ones include Nautilus, Evolution, Spruce, Balsa, Mahogany, ISHMail, Sylpheed, Pronto, KMail, Netscape, etc. You'll find the home pages of any of these by searching on www.freshmeat.net. A lot of these clients will aloow you to sort mail with rules, but for best effect I would use procmail/fetchmail to sorting email.
Lotus Organiser for booking appointments.
KOrganiser is one possibility, there are others, but I don't have much experience in the field.
I am planning on dual booting until I am comfortable enough to handle problems that may occur and getting my Winmodem to work if possible.
This *may* be possible, but it will require a lot of time and effort (assuming that it'll work at all). The best advice is always to get a real modem... ;-)
I am planning to use Star Office as my office suite to replace Office 2000. I would appreciate any comments from anyone on applications I can use to replace Outlook and Organiser with similar functionality.
If StarOffice doesn't suit you, there are other office suites available. That one of our main advantages of Windows - we have choice! Have fun, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\
