Hi again Jonathan: On Sunday 11 March 2001 20:40, you wrote:
Do i load this file in the URL window or in Konqueror's configure area. I tried it in the URL window and it said loading applet but nothing happened?
Aye, in the URL window just like any file (it is just like any other file!). If it doesn't work there could be a number of thiongs wrong:
Do other applets load? (try http://www.students.stir.ac.uk/99/r/jr050/web/Mandelbrot/Mandelbrot.html
No fractal. It just said loading applet
if you don't know.) If not then go to Settings->Configure Knoqueror->Konqueror->Java and make sure 'enable Java globally' is on and that Path to Java executable works (just enter 'java' then make sure the command 'java' works on a command line.
I did this and I get: planck@linux:~ > java Usage: java [-options] class where options include: -help print out this message -version print out the build version -v -verbose turn on verbose mode -debug enable remote JAVA debugging -noasyncgc don't allow asynchronous garbage collection -verbosegc print a message when garbage collection occurs -noclassgc disable class garbage collection -cs -checksource check if source is newer when loading classes -ss<number> set the maximum native stack size for any thread -oss<number> set the maximum Java stack size for any thread -ms<number> set the initial Java heap size -mx<number> set the maximum Java heap size -D<name>=<value> set a system property -classpath <directories separated by colons> list directories in which to look for classes -prof[:<file>] output profiling data to ./java.prof or ./<file> -verify verify all classes when read in -verifyremote verify classes read in over the network [default] -noverify do not verify Maybe I have to specify a class?
In the KSettings panel also switch on Show Java Console as it will give you some information.
Make sure you copied my HTML exactly.
I copied them exactly. Where is the KSettings located? I looked in Preferences and no luck.
Ah hah, now this could well be the source of your troubles. I just tried konqueror with java 1.1.3 that comes with SuSE and it doesn't seem to work. I hope you have a fast internet connection because you'll have to
can't do it Jonathan. My internet connection is slow. Maybe I will try it latter in the week,
download it from http://java.sun.com (not Blackdown, their version seems to be not complete even though they did most of the porting work). Get the tar.gz version and uncompress it then point konqueror to it, restart konqueror and cross your fingers.
It'll be worth it once you've got it working :-)
