A great virus scanner to use is McAfee Virusscan also known as UVSCAN. This is a shareware download that you can use for 30 days before you have to purchase it. I have it configured through Inflex, but I am sure that it can be configured using your current application.
I am using McAfee viruscan with Amavis, and it has been flawless for over a year. DAT updates are very easy. I'm not versed AT ALL in script programming, but I'm sure the process can be automated with a simple shell script. The files are easily downloaded from McAfee's website, then untar'd. The install script ran without a hitch on SuSE 6.4 and 7.1 I haven't upgraded since then, so I can't be of help with any other versions. Uvscan must be installed before Amavis, but after that, it's no sweat. (I did have a few perl modules missing when I started, but the documentation was very specific about how to get things going.)
I don't believe their is an option to automatically delete the file, but I'm sure there is a way to atleast quaranteen it. (Again, this is something that Inflex does automatically as well.)
Amavis does indeed quarantine the virus, and optionally notify the sender and/or the recipient of the infection. Feel free to ask questions on or off list if necessary. ~Dale ________________________________ Dale Schuster MIS Manager Lake Tahoe Horizon Casino Resort dschuster@horizoncasino.com
