I'm having continued problems trying to configure XFree86 4.0.2 to work with my ATI Radeon Graphics card.
There are upgrade rpms for 4.0.2 on the SuSE site at http://www.suse.de/en/support/xsuse/index.html I've used this with no problems (even running a dual headed machine OK).
I installed XFree86 from .tgz files downloaded from XFree86.org, out of the libc5 directory. The only guess I have is that maybe I was supposed to d/l the files from the glibc2.2 or glibc2.3 directory, and not the files in the libc5 directory. But this is just a shot in the dark.
Go for the SuSE supplied rpms, this takes the guess work out of it for you :-) Peter. ---------------------------------- E-Mail: Peter Onion <ponion@srd.bt.co.uk> Date: 23-Jan-01 Time: 10:23:51 This message was sent by XFMail ----------------------------------
