The big BUT is that I can no longer login graphically. I boot up to the text login prompt. Once I login - either as root or another user - I can run "startx" and the desktop starts.
I have been through every single option in Yast that I can imagine might have a bearing on this (Login Manager, etc.). Still no luck.
Someone pleeeasse tell me what I screwed up and how to fix it.
Thanks in advance - Richard
After booting the PC in question, log in as root and run the command "runlevel". This will show you your previous and current runlevel. If you see "N 3" from the above command, run "init 5" to go into the graphical runlevel. If this works, make this permanent by using Yast => System => Runlevel Editor. Change from "Simple Mode" to "Expert Mode". You should now see a drop down box to change the default runlevel to 5 instead of 3. If you saw "N 5" or something else from the runlevel command, let us know what it is and we can try something else. HTH Louis
