It is self-evident that if you lower prices, manufacturers will inevitably lower quality The last time a chunk of electronics that died within 5 years of my purchase I noted the manufacturer and added them to the list of the ones I won't buy from. Now days I build my own computers from parts. No CD/DVD players at all, just lots of USB ports (I cheated and the last DVD/Blu-Ray player/recorder I bought was a USB one so I could haul it around to where I might need it).
