Hi
I tried that one, but it does not work.
When I start vnc before KDE, then KDE complains that the display is already active.
If I try to start vncserver :0 after starting KDE, vncserver says "A VNC server is already running as :0", but there is only KDE running, so vncviever does not connect...
So this is not working for me.. I need to see the actual screen of the student.
Jaska.
Well, I use to change the ~/.vnc/xstartup script where it says twm to kde. When the client's desktop first comes up, you have to kill twm and start kde. I think after that, it usually comes up as kde. I haven't done this for awhile, but I seem to remember that it did not work with kde2 like it did with kde. I used to get the client's kde desktop, but not as I can for a Windows user's desktop. eg: I couldn't actually see them at work. However, you might play around with it. I think I will today, also, and I will report back if I come up with anything. I use VNC to watch my kids' desktops which are Win98 machines, and it works great, and I especially like having found out about x2x from this list, but I've never gotten the same results from linux-linux. Clear as mud, I know, but I believe the xstartup script is where you want to be. Tom -- TRBishop tb64710@alltel.net SuSE 7.3 Pro
