I have been using Skype for a few weeks now and it has been working quite well, but recently my system has hit a problem.
When using my log-in, if I try to dial out I get the message that Skype is 'Connecting ...' but never quite fullfils that promise. The application then will not close nicely. The 'Disconnect' button doesn't achieve anything and I have to kill Skype manually.
What I see is that it doesn't release the audio stream. Because after any contact with a Voicemail server Skype reports that the "There is a sound problem". The only way to clear it is to hangup and close Skype then reopen it. Thay seems to work. If I connect over and over to a NON voicemail user it works.
The problem is I can not hang up during this 'Connecting...' phase, the Hang Up button has no effect and trying to close Skype nicely (not just the GUI front end) locks the application up and I have to kill it. Have you logged this as a problem with Skype.com - not that I'd expect a quick resolution to the problem even if you have. -- Colin Murphy - Colin@SpudULike.me.uk aka spudulike1964 on Skype
