It's not long, it's simply hardware dependent. Use 'alsactl' to create your /etc/asound.conf. Of course, alsa must be configured correctly to begin with, that's the tricky part. ;) If you have SuSE's RPMs installed, use 'alsaconf' to configure your sound card. -jrh
