I do not understand the following behaviors in a newly installed v11.4 system.
1) In System Settings> Common Appearance> Account Settings> Password and User> User Information, I am asked to enter my name, email address, and SMTP server. After doing so, the following error appeares:
"An error has occurred, and your name has probably not been changed. The error was chfn."
Setting finger information (which is what this is) has never worked for me from KDE SystemSettings.
If you care about it (nothing I know uses that info anymore anyway) you can set it from the command line using 'chfn' - look at 'man chfn' for help.
I have put it out of my mind. Thank you.
II had enterred the very same neam I had written in the installation process, with no changes. I have no clue what "chfn" should tell me. What does it want to see in the name field (if that is really what is bothering it)?
2) I want to use the Lancelot launcher. I unlocked widgets and clicked on "Add widgets", then found the Lancelot widget. Clicking on it brought it on to the Desktop, after which nothing I could do would move it to the Panel, where I think it belongs, as I had done in v11.3. What is the trick for doing this?
Re: the widget If drag-n-drop doesn't do it, try removing the widget from the desktop, and clicking the cashew from the RHS of the panel, then add widgets, then choose lancelot. That should get it directly onto the panel.
That's all the difference. I had got stuck on the cashew in the upper- right corner.
