I have SuSE 5.2 and just for kicks I compiled kernel 2.2. When I try to run my ppp scripts, (they worked fine before) I get this error ioctl(SIOCADDRT) device route: Network is down /var/log/messages says I connect fine, and get an IP assigned etc just like its sposed to, but it has that error in it. I assume I am just missing something in the network configs but I don't know what it is, and I don't wanna just start trying things. Thanks in advance.
SuSE Linux 5.2 is not ready for the 2.2 kernel. You need to change several things to get everything working. Have a look at /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes for further info.
