Have you run 3Ddiag? This will tell you which switch2xxx script to run to enable 3D, or tell you if any packages (i.e. mesasoft) are missing.
It said "Symbolic Links ... failed!" under the tests for package "xf86_glx" section and suggested I run the switch2xf86_glx script. I ran the script & it doesn't complain about the symlink anymore. The bad news is I still get the segfaults. :( I reinstalled HG2 and Q3 after the SuSE stuff.. maybe that messed something up? Doesn't seem likely however as I installed both games as an unprivileged user to an unused dir. I guess I'll just wait for 4.1. The 2d stuff seems fine so the only reason I'd need 3d is for games, and I should be able to use the "old" Xi server for them. Not much time for games lately anyways. Thanks for the help though. -John
