I have downloaded and installed VMware via the RPM that they provide and I am trying to run the configure program. Everything works until I get to the point when it is trying to download the vmmon module for the kernel, which I have the default 2.6.22 with all updates installed, and I get the following for the program: "Trying to find a suitable vmmon module for your running kernel.
None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Workstation is suitable for your running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes]"
When I tell it yes then I get to the following part: "What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]" The suggested location, /usr/src/linux/include, is not correct according to the program. Can anyone help me out in locating what it is asking for? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Hi Adam, Before installing VMWare, you must rebuild vmmon module and this proses need kernel-source to be installed. Please refer to http://www.vavai.net/index.php?/archives/18-Installing-VMWare-Ver-5.5-.X-on-... for complete process. I used VMWare v5.5 but it should be OK with the newer version. -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog/index.php Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id Email : vavai@vavai.com /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
