I can see Windows going to be in trouble soon.
Nah, they'll do what they can to survive. I just came from a horrendous implementation dry run for a new Wintendo-based system. http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/20080912_JEDI_Screen_Exam.png The application ran just fine - and I'll give kudos to MS for writing a well developed IDE for allowing my staff to create such an application. It works great on Vista in fact. However... ...just try to get it (with it's dependencies) and hardware (point-of-sale, label printers, hand-held scanners, cash drawers) to work with the 50 or so Win2K systems we still have or the 150 WinXP systems we have older runtimes on, and you're in a world of hurt. I mentioned how openSUSE or SLED would be excellent for such a deployment. Regardless, no one wanted to hear about another OS. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.perfectreign.com Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it. - Dee Hock -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
