In message "[S.u.S.E. Linux] SVGA Server not installed in suse 5.2?", you write:
Hi all, I am trying to configure my Matrox Millenium II on my machine and it complains that the SVGA server is not installed. I am really surprised that 2.5 giganyte of software doesn't include the SVGA server. Is it in someplace that I can't find or is it really not included with the distribution?
I had similar problems. Try this: 1. When selecting the Matrox card in YAST, make sure you select AGP variant of the Millenium II. 2. Delete the VGA server completely from the list of installed servers. Don't worry, the Matrox is an SVGA card, and there is standard VGA built into the SVGA server. Deleting the VGA server forces YAST to use the SVGA server - YAST seems to have a fetish for the VGA server, despite being told to choose another server. Hopefully this should solve your problem. My monitor has one of those on-screen adjustments, and at 1280x1024 my Millenium II is driving the screen at 87Hz. It looks as sharp as a pin. :-) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bill Donald G7ENQ Euro Interconnect Signaling Systems (44) 01628 431063 Nortel plc.
