in summary, how can I give away my ftp dir to bitorrent without having previously loaded it with bitorrent?
It depends on what client you use.
the ktorrent standard on suse beta
The most simple thing is just to start the desired BitTorrent client as if you wanted to download the images you already have. Let him download a few kilobyte and stop it again. Find where your client has placed the incomplete images. Copy your complete images to the very same location and restart your BitTorrent client. Most clients will notice that you already now have some images, it will do a quick check and then start seeding.
right now it keeps dowloading (?)
Obviously it is more comfortable to read in the documentation how to setup the place for the images directly.
no doc for ktorrent on my machine, most bitorrent doc for windows users and I'm not at all familiar with torrent. you know, we are in a very unfamiliar config. We update each week. Now, to test torrent, I use still the beta3, but will probably update and need a way to reconnect after that. if bitorrent is to be the choice for download, it definitively needs to be better documented on opensuse site. If I understand the way, I will do, but now I use a (small, I can live with) part of my download bandwith to down load some files I have already... but there are more than 110 peers, now :-) jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr
