This is bizarre. I updated thunderbird 38.3->38.5 (mozilla repo) and when attempting to start 38.5, the crash-dialog appears immediately (and attempting "Restart" just results in yet another crash-dialog). Starting from konsole reveals the following:
$ thunderbird
(process:16921): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
Wierd. Not that it will help you, but I replaced 32 bit 13.1 with 42.1 (64 bit) on this box on Saturday. Subsequently, I got that message trying to run mozilla.org's Firefox ESR 10, which I had had no problem with before. It ultimately turned out that I had installed the original 64 bit ESR 10. With the latest, it works fine. Lots and lots of those GLib-...0' failed messages googling, often pointing to bugs claimed fixed but not, and pointing to little in the way of solutions. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
