Hy Steve Have you already tried the -noinstall option. If this don't work I can't help you ... sorry :-(. pwlwcz@ibm.net wrote:
Hello, I'm having great fun with SuSE 5.1 on my Toshiba t1910cs laptop. It's a 486 sx w/ 12mb ram and a 16 color 640x480 vga display. I'm having problems with Navigator 3.04 however, that I don't understand. I am limited by my 200 mb hard drive so I installed only what I thought I really needed. I used YAST and made sure all dependencies were O.K. X works great-how does XV take a high color .jpg photo and manage to show it so well on a 16 color display??? XV is cool... Netscape on the other hand is having all kinds of trouble. I figured I would just start it with the "-mono" option, (this is kind of neat--try it) and let it just make do in black and white. When i start it I get a terrible long list of x-errors, failed requests mostly "BadDrawable", "invalid pixmap or window parameter" and "Bad gc" or something similar. It does finally open and it seems to function somewhat. The navigation buttons are tiny little things about 1mm square and there's no big "N" in the corner. I have used navigator with vga before, it wasn't pretty but I didn't get errors. I even dug out an old 2.02 version and tried that, it does the same stuff. Arena opens just fine and I can't really say that I've had trouble with anything other than Navigator. I only have 256k of video ram and 12mb of system ram and a 15+/- mb swap partition. Do I need to install some kind of mystery widget/pixmap package or is my laptop just incapable of feeding the big "N"? I tried loading with the "-install" option and "-ncols ..." all I get is a few x-errors ending in a big door slammin' bus error. Any ideas?
Steve
