I had a similar problem with an A60 and the PTP driver. I now use a newer cvs version of gphoto2, which has dedicated drivers for the A60 & A70, and I can download images fine.

I upgraded the libgphoto2 last night and it didn't help. I'll try upgrading gphoto2 also.
Now that I think about it, being at home, I don't think I installed it right. Can you give me an idea how to compile the two programs? I think I compiled one or two programs so far in my life and that was with some serious hand-holding. I have 8.2 installed and I installed the two programs with the CDs. I downloaded: libgphoto2-2.1.2.tar.gz gphoto2-2.1.2.tar.gz Thanks, Tom
