Hi, everyone. Hope you can help me with this one. I routinely make backups on CDs. When I restore anything from the CD to my SuSE 8.0 those files are read-only. Not a problem, I can right click on the document or whatever, click the permissions tab, and put an "x" in the box that says "user/write," and I can then modify the file. But what if I have a folder with lots of files. It's a huge pain to have to click "write" in each one of them. So I tried right clicking on the folder that contained a bunch of documents. I right click, then click on "properties," then permissions, and at the bottom of the screen is a place for a check box that says "Apply changes to all sub-directories and their contents." Ah-hah, I figure. That should allow me to write-enable all items in a folder at the same time. But it doesn't work. When I do that nothing inside the folder changes. I still have to write-enable each item individually. Am I doing something wrong? Have I overlooked a setting somewhere? Thanks! :o) Gil
