I seem to remember that only some 5-1/4" disks used hard sectoring. They were the ones with a whole slew of holes around the center. Nicht wahr?
They were also used on 8" floppy. Yes, they had several holes around the hub and there was an extra hole, to index the disk. I used to work on some systems that used hard sectors.
