Unfortunately there is only scarce information about _which_ platforms show the instabilites. I have no reports of mod_perl as DSO, as shipped with SuSE Linux since a long time, about such instabilities. I would encourage you to try it out first, and if you encounter problems contact me and/or try out a statically linked mod_perl.

Yes, you would need to build an entirely new apache. Don't worry, it's not hard. Go to httpd.apache.org and follow the instructions, building an apache into /usr/local/apache. If you got that working, do it again but this time follow the directions on perl.apache.org. Peter
