Na, use the slower on board ports for a mouse or printer or something that uses no significant bandwidth. They should all play nicely together.

Plug in, and turn on the device while running tail -f /var/log/messages in a konsole. It will tell you where the device is, usually something like /dev/sdb or similar, in which case you try to mount -t auto /dev/sdb1 /mnt Takes a bit of experimenting. Some version so SuSE have fairly good hotplug (but often firewire is not turned on), and other versions not so good. You will also notice a order of arrival issue with external storage. Sometimes the Card Reader will be seen as /dev/sdb and the next time the camera will show up as /dev/sdb depending on the order you plugged in. I keep a icon for kdiskfree on my desktop, because you can see hotplug items show up there, and right click to mount etc. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
