I actually just got mine working!!! Granted this was on RH7.3, but it should still work. First install the wireless tools from suse 8.0. Then once you have aeverything installed, there is a configuration file, /etc/wlan.conf you need to configure. If you don't use encryption, only one thing you need to configure, SSID. This is just the name of your router. Either check your router's documentation, or use a windows box and the wireless utilities to figure it out. I know Linksys uses "linksys" for it's SSID. ONce this is done, try modprobe on the prism2 drivers and you should be all set. Wireless devices are wlan0, not eth0. If it loads, and you get an "Tx frame drop" it means you have it working, you need to just get the right config for your router. Marc On Mon, 2002-09-02 at 11:08, Branton Boehm wrote:
Does anyone else have any suggestions for getting my internal wireless card up and running? Like I said, I'm fairly new to Linux so just let me know what other information you need.
I'd really appreciate any help!

I'm attempting to get my internal wireless card in my IBM Thinkpad R30 working correctly. The card was dectected by YaST and comes up as "Harris Semiconductor". YaST configures the card as eth1.
If, however, I try to "ifconfig eth1 up", I get the following error message:
eth1: unknown interface: No such device
Admittidely, I'm a newbie but I've been poking around for a few days now on the Net trying to figure it out. Here's the ls output of /etc/sysconfig/network:
. config ifcfg-eth0 ifcfg-lo providers wireless .. dhcp ifcfg-eth1 ifcfg.template scripts
And here is the contents of ifcfg-eth1:
BOOTPROTO="dhcp" STARTMODE="onboot" UNIQUE="lgGW.CA1y3f8FAiF"
Right now, I'm not even worried about finding my wireless network... it seems like the system isn't even recognizing my card. Can anyone help me? If you need more information, just let me know. I'm trying to make the switch from Windows, but I've got to have wireless to do so.
Thanks, Branton Boehm
