torbrowser-launcher does exactly that - it connects to tor.org on the first time and downloads tor browser from this site. So the only extra bonus is menu entry that you can also create yourself. After initial download tor browser will update itself as usual. Yes, also when you do it from the website. So, why would I delegate even only one step of the process to a third party if I can avoid it. Every intermediatary is a supplemental Komplexity. Every Komplexity needs trust, and with every act of trust you give away control to third parties. This is why I do not understand the choice. YMMV.
