Having trouble compiling the nVidia kernel driver to use with the 2.4.0 kernel. I compile while running 2.4.0. After the warning about official support only upto kernel 2.2 I get:
nv.c: In function `nv_lock_pages': nv.c:556: warning: implicit declaration of function `mem_map_inc_count' nv.c: In function `nv_unlock_pages': nv.c:583: warning: implicit declaration of function `mem_map_dec_count' nv.c: At top level: nv.c:853: unknown field `unmap' specified in initializer nv.c:853: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type make: *** [nv.o] Error 1
I tried "insmod agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1" but that gives me some thing along the lines of "init_module: no such device." some Debian users seem to have gotten this to work but not me, yet.
Any suggestions???
(I have the nVidia card working on 2.2 but I want to go to 2.4.0 so I can use the USB scanner I have.)
On the newbie@xfreee.org mailing list just last night the was a post pointing to a patched version of nvidia's 0.9.5 kernel driver that LETS it work with x4.0.2 and kernel 2.4.0. I'm at work right now and don't have the info as to where to get it but IF I'm reminded when I get home I'll pass the info on to this list/you if someone else hasn't already posted it here. I beleive (not sure) you may have to compile x4.0.2 from source. I'll CC myself to this message so I'll get it at home tonight to remind me. It may not make it till Wed morning though. I beleive it can be found at sourceforge.net. Something about kernel 2.4, x4.0.r, nvidia, and hitchhiker. I plan on trying it as soon as I get everything else working with 2.4.0 kernel. -- Mark Hounschell markh@compro.net
