My question is: Could someone please tell me how to turn off this damn SuSEfirewall and configure firewall in future only thru iptables ?
The 'damn' SuSEfirewall???
Yast Control Center -> Security and Users -> Firewall -> Stop Firewall and Remove from Boot Process
Should take all of 60 seconds.
You may also have to do `iptables -F` as root; at least in 9.3 just stopping the firewall (and disabling it) left the iptables rules in place until after a reboot. And I'm not a fan of the firewall either...but I'm also using SuSE Pro as a server OS, and prefer to be able to set up firewalling with iptables directly.
