I am trying to connect to this share from a Windows98 machine using the following command:

If you are using "security = user", try \\10.1.1.2\username . Also, did you "smbpasswd -a username"? What does /var/log/messages say about the connection attempt? You might want to go over to www.ora.com and take a gander at the open-source version of their Samba book. If this doesn't work, you might send me a copy of smb.conf. I've got the exact same setup on my web server.
