When I did my upgrade I did pretty much the same thing to the options file...but for me it was basically to replicate my "old-style" dial-up script as well as make KPPP functional based on what I knew from previous experiences with 5.3 and before. However, what is the purpose of this "bloated" options file, if it effectively has to be "blanked"? Also, does it happen to get used as a "generic" options script when setting up suseppp? (That's something I have yet to experiment yet. While I have my setup working fine, I am recommending Linux to more and more of my friends who may need a little bit of support in these "easier" ways of doing an Internet connection.) Hi,
I just upgraded SuSE 5.3 to 6.0 and KDE 1.0 to 1.1. I run into minor problems afterwards: kppp started redialing after finishing login in to my ISP, fixed that by moving the new file /etc/ppp/options and replacing it by an empty one.
The permissions for the directory /mnt are set to "a-rwx", so my old entries in /etc/fstab didn't work for regular users when I tried to mount my Windog partition in /mnt/win. I guess the intention is to have other partitons mount in the root directory, as the update did so for /floppy and /cdrom.
I've a question: I can't execute kvt now. I get this error message:
kvt: could not chown /dev/ttyp4. Please check SUID bit.
and
inca:/ $ ll /dev/ttyp4 crw-rw-rw- 1 root tty 3, 4 Mar 19 00:52 /dev/ttyp4
Can anybody suggest a fix to this? Thanks.
