Why are you even worrying about that? Use DNS.
I haven't checked yet if my external dyn dns accepts IPv6. If they do, then I'll have to modify the scripts, which will take some time.
For a quick test, which was all I was trying to do, I need to enter the IP address into firefox.
And I wanted to do the test forcing FF to use IPv6.
I have been using IPv6 for close to 13 years and almost never use the IPv6 address. If you don't have DNS available, use the hosts file.
You don't understand. I'm trying to reach my home server from internet, using IPv6, just for trying, for testing. From internet, meaning I need to do it from a machine that is not in my LAN. The only one I have this minute is my android phone. There is currently no DNS that will do that conversion, name to IPv6 address, nor a hosts file is possible (non rooted Android). So I simply write: http://[2a02:9140:...]:port/path/ in Firefox in Android, and the stupid thing asks google for that string. It does not recognize it as an address. FF in the computer does. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.4 x86_64 at Telcontar)
