I've been seeing for some time the following set of errors. I could accept the Virtualbox messages, because I haven't tried to use VB yet. But why not OpenOffice, dbus, k3b, kupdateapplet, etc.? I keep hoping whatever's keeping them in the old versions will clear up, but it's not, for some long time now. Should I be concerned?
If you do
zypper in OpenOffice_org
what does it say? It should tell you why the normal update won't touch the package

Thanks much, Anders. you're right; it made things almost clear :-). embelex:~ # zypper in OpenOffice_org ...Virtualbox stuff... Reading installed packages... 'OpenOffice_org' is already installed. There is an update candidate for 'OpenOffice_org', but it is from different vendor. Use 'zypper install OpenOffice_org-3.2.1.6-1.1.i586' to install this candidate. Resolving package dependencies... Nothing to do. embelex:~ # So OpenOffice originally came from Packman? Only Packman and Virtualbox were listed by Zypper. I suppose this comes from Oracle's eating Sun? So, should I install the different OpenOffice, or try LibreOffice? I intend to do that someday, but I understand it's still not up to professional use level. Wasn't that said on this list a week or two ago? I'll try the other failures now, too. I guess they also have some similar problem. Back when I was using yast, I believe it told me what the old and new providers were. Is there a way to get Zypper to do that, too? jp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
