Yes, but the hidden question was how to set this. opensuse.org mails are just aliases pointing to some other "normal" e-mail addresses. But how to set the target? Why isn't it manageable in the connect or elsewhere on some easily reachable place? So far - as far as I know - one must send request to admin (at) opensuse.org to ask to set target e-mail for opensuse.org alias... It is really a "what do you mean by ..." question.
I use Thunderbird and it allows me to specify the (or rather choose) the outgoing 'From:" address and the "Reply-to:" that I want to use.
I can set up actual (as they use some POP or IMAP (fetch) accounts and I can set up how outgoing messages are handled. In this instance I've created a specific account for @OpenSuse that filters and means that I automatically reply with the appropriate "From:" and "reply-to:" for that list.
I believe there are 'virtual' account mechanisms that achieve the same thing.
There is no need to have 'accounts' thgat have a 1:1 correspondence with anything in /etc/passwd.
As for outgoing, Thunderbird lets me use my local Postfix, which I can them configure to be destination dependent for routing if I so wish, my ISP's mail relay, or direct connections. In reality, many routers and sites block port 25, but never mind, they support TLS on a higher numbered port.
Regardless of the account that I actually fetch my @opensuse list mail from, I can set up Thunderbird so that, if I had an @opensuse dot org account, the "From" would read "anton.aylward" and the "Reply-to:" wold bem, as is the case with this message, the list.
Given how easy all that is with Thunderbird, I can't imagine ever using a webmail program. they seem crippled by the designers imagination.
Perhaps, just perhaps, there are add-ins for gmail on your phone that that offer capabilities that are similar. I use Thunderbird's IMAP option for reading my Gmail. That way i get the best of both worlds.
Well, I use KMail. Same case (settings of various outgoing identities etc.). As webmail I have RoundCube allowing same settings. But the problem, IMHO, is on the opposite end: how to comfortably configure opensuse.org alias to deliver mails into particular account... -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux https://www.opensuse.org/ https://trapa.cz/
