Using Top, I see a lot of activity going on at something called artsd. Don't know that program and could not find anything on it. And when I leave KDE for the console on my 7.3 version. I do not like such messages and want to stop them. How? and what do they mean?
Artsd is the KDE sound server. I've found I'm better off by using the ALSA drivers and disabling artsd on startup, at least on a i810. You might want to try that.
