Hi, When Jim Henderson suggested Filelight as a tool to detect aberrent disk usage, I figured I'd check it out, even though at the moment I dont' have any problems such as Kai's. I installed it and ran it and I noticed that it generates a beep for each downward increment of the mouse wheel (but not for upward). So (for the hell of it, which succeeded) I gave the mouse wheel a good long downward spin and the sound system when nuts repeating system beeps without end. I finally got it to stop by opening the KDE Control Center (now called Personal Settings), going to the Sound and Multimedia -> Sound System and clicking the "Test Sound" button. This cancelled the repeating beep and played the test sound. Once.
