Issue: I cannot execute Xwindow system due to the fact that I am using an ATI Radeon graphics card with XFree86 4.0 on SuSE 7.0. I need to download and install XFree 4.0.2. I have gone to http://suse.com/en/support/xsuse/index.html#xfree86402 and have read the release notes and the readme document. Inquiry: 1. I can't figure out which i386 files I need to download to properly install and run 4.0.2. (The readme doc says I can find the files in "glibc 2.1.3" but I don't see such a folder.) 2. My linux computer is not connected to the internet. Once I download the necessary files to my windows machine, how do I transfer the files to my linux computer and place them in the proper folder or directory in linux. What is the proper directory in which to place the files. 3. Once the files are placed in the right folder or directory, can I simply run xf86cfg or xf86config, and 4.0.2 will install itself, replacing my current 4.0 This is embarassing; I feel like a first-grader trying to read Noam Chomsky. All guidance greatly appreciated. Mike Flug michael.flug@snet.net
