If you get it, only install it on a "spare" box or plan on cleaning the hard drive and going back to what you had loaded before. KDE 4.0 ISN'T anywhere near ready for prime time - way too many bugs and features missing like not being able to hide the taskbar.....based on the 64-bit live CD I played with. I fear that KDE 4.0 won't be ready for the June 16th release date. It would be MUCH better if 11.0 doesn't go "gold" until KDE 4.0 is solid and ALL features are present and there's NO glitches with any of the software that anyone has been using under KDE 3.*.
No way.
You can install KDE3 instead. Why don't you?
If you are complaining about how the choices of desktop are presented when you install, this was discussed time ago in the factory list, and the decision was made. It was there and then when you people should have talked, not here and now.
And remember that if kde4 has such big problems, that's mostly the kde people fault, not suse.
I would beg to differ there at least partly KDE4 has got problems that make it still Alpha unstable BUT it is Suse that are PUSHING it down our throats by positioning the KDE4 choice in the position they have in the menu those that are not in the know of just how BAD KDE4 really is just accept the first choice install it then they are going to get hit by things that do not work are missing ect ect ect , The decission about the menu choices was made once again by Suse there was much deccent as i remember in that thread the bulk of which said NO to KDE4 as the first choice hey presto where is it now Alpha software as the first choice talk about playing into the hands of the M$ Corp windBloWs brigade ye gads Or is this allegance with M$ Corp now starting to show it's REAL COLOURS(spelt correctly btw) and the hidden agenda starting to leak thru the demise of suse to be replaced with windBloWs via the back door ..
