OK, You looked in both the My Computer folder on your desktop and in your normal directory tree in the directory /media ?? What happens when you eject the CD/DVD whatever, from the drive? What happens when you do an ls -l /dev/hdc (whatever your device corresponds to) ?
If I eject disk nothing happens at all. And ls -l /dev/hd* (or hdc) gives nothing but list of hdas, like: /dev/hda1 /dev/hda2 etc. Normally if I insert disk into drive firstly drive blinks its led while "initializing" and secondly (after a while) led blinks while system reads disk (for example, KDE asks what to do with disk after this phase). And in described situation second step is missing. This one is very strange now: trying to boot with DVD inserted. System booted. No mounted DVD. ls -l /dev/hd* gives /dev/hda1 ... /dev/hdc /dev/hdd. :-\ Ejecting DVD. Inserting again. DVD is mounted. Everything OK (or almost everything). I guess my PC is playing tricks with me. However, thanks for advices, Roma. PS I've got one e-mail which said that this strange behavior might be related to the udev. I'll try and have a look at that.
