But is that just a cop out?
What's a cop out and what do you want to install?
Sorry. Stupid English americanism. Cop out means 'easy option'. In 6.2 you did ./configure, make and make install and it ran. Probably. Things seem to have got more complex in the 8.1 days. Getting all the stuff to compile xine from source took me six hours. But I learned an awful lot in the process and went to sites I'd never normally visit terminated eventually by your apt stuff. And curl. So the cop out in this case would be to get the rpm's, yast and go. If they exist. I suspect that they do. But please don't tell me!
