Dear Karol, Celestia inded was on the 8.1 CDs. It is very, very cool and has a professional look too. Thanks for the advice. PeterB On Saturday 07 December 2002 03:46 pm, Karol Pietrzak wrote:
In other words, you're looking for something "cool" (for lack of better phrasing)?
Try out Celestria.
"Celestia is a free real-time space simulation that lets you experience our universe in three dimensions. Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy." --http://www.shatters.net/celestia/
It's actually on the SuSE CDs, believe it or not. I spent around half-an-hour playing around with it the first time I opened it. Screenshots at http://www.shatters.net/celestia/gallery.html .
Tuxracer is a nice little game, but it gets boring quick. You race down hillls as a penguin. Also available on the SuSE CDs.
Of course, there's other 3D programs that you can try. Search for "3d" in the YPM (YaST package manager). e.g., 3d_chess, bzflag.
All cool stuff. Definitely check out Celestia.
