Luis, Thanks for answering my PPP problem, I am still working on that, but I noticed you talked about "power outage". I looked in the SuSE book and all it had was something about Advanced Power Mgn. I wonder what you type into LiLo to bring up a UPS. I have one in use right now, but I think you mean a smart UPS. Anyhow, would you comment on it.
I don't think LILO has anything to do with UPS, not directly anyway, I could be wrong. Normally, for a PC, there's a connection from a serial port (com port) to the UPS. The PC and accessories are plugged into the UPS and the UPS plugs into the Hydro outlet. When the UPS system detects a problem or potential problem with commercial hydro, it sends a signal along the serial port to the linux box where the daemon is listening in. You can configure how you want things to behave when you get these signals, but normally you try and do an orderly shutdown of your system. Perhaps, if it's a many user system you give your users 5-10 minutes to clean up and log off via a broadcast message and then the system is shutdown, all this is automagic. The delay you set would vary depending on your UPS battery reserve and how paranoid you are :):) -- Lou A.
