[opensuse] DKMS and Nvidia

I have installed DKMS package. When installing the Nvidia driver, there was an option to register it with DKMS. There was a message that if the kernel is updated in future, Nvidia module will be automatically updated. Can anyone with experience of DKMS and Nvidia confirm if this happens automatically or how this works? I have no experience of it.
