Yes, always do that. The documentation is there for a purpose; to ignore it is the height of stupidity. Even those of us with decades of experience make hefty use of the manual. The advantage of the electronic ones is that they don't wear out like the paper ones, and you don't, as with the DEC manuals, have to worry about the bookcase falling over on you in the event of an earthquake. RTFM! RTFM!
