You should look at a site, MythTV, it's a program that is intended to turn your PC into a all-round vcr. They've got solutions to using LIRC to have your remote communicate with other programs, through the X Test protocol (a program called xte will do this, but there's another program even better I've heard. I use PC Remote, which has a builtin mouse, but doesn't communicate through lirc. On Tuesday 21 October 2003 11:58, Rohit wrote:
Hi,
I have a Pinnacle PC TV+ card [and the remote that came with it] which installed well in Linux and worked fine too. I am getting greedy now thinking about using the same remote with help of probably lirc and mplayer while watching movies...
Please anwere the following - those who have used remote controllers with their PCs.
1. Is it possible for lirc to use the remote for purposes other than just the TV card? I suspect it should be possible for a daemon to talk to applications [like my home compiled mplayer] which were compiled with lirc support.
2. The files provided with lirc on my Linux system seem up to date. I do seem to have a file which matches the remote/TVcard version and I am supposed to use that file as a configfile. Has anyone used this Pinnacle card before?
