suse has nothing to do with sound it's the kernel guys that have changed the scheme ALL the newer kernels up to 2.1.120 have screwed up sound. I haven't had sound working properly with any PNP card (this is the main problem) since 1.x.xx. when you could manually set by jumpers the irq io etc. I get sound to work kindof by using isapnp but it's a bit queer. The upshot is linux can't do PNP. Len
But what is screwed up in the kernel then? I haven't upgraded to 5.3 yet (although it's sitting on my desk - just arrived) but I'm running on the SuSE 2.0.35 kernel with 5.2 and sound works fine with my AWE 64. The same kernel is in 5.3 isn't it?
