I just upgraded the nvidia kernel-3 and nvidia glx 3(and other things xf86 glx 4.x driver and loader) through YOU and now my system freezes... Mouse dies, keyboard is unresponsive.I have to hit reset, oh the horror. I have a tnt2 model 64,amd 1700+, 256 mb ddr, 40 gb hd, i think 512 swap... has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know how I can fix it? my system freezes when i play a game, like tux racer or whatever the racing game is. But it also freezes when i check my mail and when i scroll through a document or anything else. This had happened before but when I removed the new nvidia kernel and reinstalled the one from the discs, the problem went away, so i believe it is nvidia and not something else. i promised myself i wouldn't do it again but I had read that someone else got it up and running so i rolled the dice, and lost yet again. in order to write this I had to $ switch2mesasoft. Afterwards i noticed the gears fps went up significantly, although i can't say what they were.Forgot to write them down. ... Last night, i was forced to remove the new nvidia, just moving a window froze the system. when i installed the kernel and drivers i rebooted, ran 3Ddiag and all appeared ok. i actually got through sax2, which didn't happen during the prior installs. And i checked the xf86config in /etc/X11 and it had nvidia and load glx like the nvidia directions said it should. Did i forget a step? I'm confused, but then again I'm a newbie so that shouldn't be shocking.i don't play alot of games but since the card has 3d i thought it would be nice if the system does too. I'll probably replace it at sometime but I'd like to put that off for as long as possible. And since i don't have to reinstall like a did the first two times, I'd like to get it to work. Thanks for any help you can offer.
