Hi ppl, First, I use SuSE7.1 Professional on an AMD Irongate system with a NVidia TNT2 Ultra. After installing the NVidia drivers to get my dose of Quake 3 Arena, I have run into a problem with blackscreen. It happends some time after booting into X. I lose my consoles and the screen remains X-like while shutting down (sometimes it just hangs during shutdown and I have to kill the system). If I replace the NVidia driver with NV, everything works fine. In the SuSE support database (and if you can read German), the solution is to either use an ascii login or use GDM. This works fine for me, except that I cannot boot my terminals anymore. I have almost the same setup on old SuSE 7.0 installation and here the problems doesn't exist. I have noticed that I sometimes get an MTRR error from the kernel. Any solutions to kill this problem? Later, Jens Nielsen
