Kevin, I was having crash proble,ms also. My system would freeze and flash the caps lock & scroll lock LEDs. Yesterday, I used YOU to install the updated kernel that's available. It's called k_deflt-2.4.19-174.i586.rpm. I have a 56k modem so I just set it to do it during the night while I was sleeping. When I woke up that morning, it had completed the install. I rebooted and it hasn't crashed yet. Prior to the install of the new kernel, it would crash approximately every hour or two. Try the new kernel. i suspect it'll work for you too. This is almost certainly a problem with the 8.1 kernel then -- install k_deflt-2.4.19-174.i586.rpm from the SuSE updates like several others suggested if you have not already.
That has to be an explicit download and rpm invokation? Or can that be done as part of a YOU update?
Those who have installed the new kernel... did it go in smoothly? Or did you have to track down a hundred dependencies?
