My SuSE 8.1 Athlon machine has been crashing X, relentlessly -- 46 times since late October, when I installed 8.1. On the advice of several people in this list, I have installed a kernel update k_athlon-2.4.19-167. In order to determine if the update is solving the problem, I am now about to subject the system to the most intense stress possible.... I'm announcing that it has not crashed in more than 3 days! There. Yes, I heard the collective gasp from the crowd when I dared to say that out loud. Tempting fate, and Murphy, in the most extreme way. I wasn't even touching wood or crossing my fingers when I said that! So, if the system doesn't immediately crumble under the pressure of that announcement, I'll know that the problem is solved. :-) /kevin
