Eg. when lilo changes the MBR for loading Linux and windows when the MBR previously had the windows loader. This probably does not apply to booting from a floppy however the boot that is on the floppy is probably different from that on you hard disk (perhaps you have the HD boot only windows) and the virus checker may be expecting them to be the same. If this is the case then setup lilo on the floppy to boot either Linux and windows. And when this works sucessfully (the warnings will still continue) then use lilo to write to the same boot up to the MBR. The virus complaints may stop then but then you probably will not have a reason to boot from a floppy except in an emergency. Kurtrr On Fri, 29 Dec 2000, Julia Maddocks wrote:
I have a fic motherborad (SD11) with a built in virus checker
When I boot Linux from floppy, the built in virus checker goes off and warns me a virus is present in the boot sector. I am using a new, linux formatted boot disc and don't beleive there is a virus there
any ideas?
