Update - maybe its a duff XOrg - i removed nvidia drivers and went to "nv" and it didn't work either - "failed to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist) "Fatal server error: no screens found"
How did you switch to nv (The system shouldn't be looking for "nvidia" in that case)? There is a command "switch2nv" that should do the switch for you. I removed the nvidia stuff via yast and it assumed it had to use "nv"
If that doesn't work, I would first of all rename /etc/X11/xorg.conf (if it exists) to something else so you can get your original back.
Then you could try restarting X. I run "startx" and it worked until i rebooted then failed again. If that fails, I would do; as root:
init 3 sax2 -r -m 0=nv - Make any changes you want - accept init 5
That should get X running with the nv driver. Sort of works with "startx" but sax2 did not allow me to move the screen at all. it just ran like a batch job. When KDE was up, i couldn't start yast2 or key anything into a konsole.
looks like a reinstall - why does GUI config cause so much grief?? thanks for the advice -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
